Circulation desk: issue, return and renew in keystrokes
The Flocci circulation desk turns book issue, return and renewal into single keystrokes: scan or type a copy's accession number, the member and due date resolve instantly, and the transaction completes. Due dates default to 14 days, returns clear holds in queue order, and overdue fines start counting automatically.
Keyboard-first, deliberately
Mouse-driven circulation is why queues form. Every desk action maps to keys — issue, return, renew, clear — so an experienced operator never leaves the keyboard and a transaction takes seconds even at rush hour.
The system remembers so you don't
On issue, the due date is set automatically (14 days by default) and the member's borrow limit is enforced. On return, the copy either goes back on shelf or is auto-reserved for the next member in the holds queue. Overdue fines begin on their own after the due date.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if a returned book has a hold on it?
It is automatically marked Reserved for the next member in the queue, who is notified and given a 3-day pickup window — the desk operator does nothing extra.
Can loan periods be changed?
The default loan period is 14 days and renewals extend by 14 days; settings allow tuning policy to your library.
Does it need special hardware?
No — any browser works, and typed accession numbers are first-class. USB barcode scanners work out of the box because they act as keyboards.
